Course Documents

Since the Fall of 1987, students at Dickinson College have been using all 4 modules of the Workshop Physics Activity Guide. In the fall of 1996, students began using the first edition of the Workshop Physics Acitivty Guide published by John Wiley & Sons. The second edition, designed to work with the Activity Based Physics Suite, became available in Fall 2004.

The Workshop Physics Activity Guide Modules are part of Dickinson's two-semester calculus-based introductory physics sequence. Currently we cover all but one of the 28 units included in the published Activity Guide (we skip Unit 28: Radioactivity and Radon). The downloadable course documents included in the list below were designed to support conduct of the course in a laboratory enviroment where students meet for three 2-hour long sessions each week. Toward the end of each semester we require students to break up into groups of 2 or 3 and conduct a topic related project of their own choosing.

The documents listed below are sample versions of student handouts designed for use in the Dickinson College courses. They can be downloaded and modified to meet local needs. The documents are available in three formats, Microsoft Word/Excel, Stuffit Zip, and Adobe PDF files.
